They largely flew under the radar of securities regulators across Canada for years, but the unregulated, or “exempt market” securities dealers, issuers and service providers – those that don’t require a formal prospectus or fall into the traditional securities industry – are now squarely in the sights of regulators and Craig Skauge is leading the charge to change the perception of what has sometimes been seen as a shady, if misunderstood, area of investments.
